Calling all Methow Valley singers and musicians! Have you always wanted to sing in a choir? Do you play an instrument and read music? Do you want to join a fun, collaborative, and supportive ensemble for music making? Cascadia Music's 2025-26 season of the Cascadia Chorale and Pipestone Orchestra offer two no-audition community music making opportunities for all!
The Chorale and Orchestra will be joined by the Pipestone youth orchestra (led by Pam Hunt) for the Cascadia Music "Holiday Concerts" on Tuesday and Wednesday Dec 9 and 10 at 7:00, with a dress rehearsal Monday Dec 8 at 6:00. Participants range in age from 12-86, and hail from all corners of our valley community. Our chorale and orchestra concerts are our most widely attended and anticipated of the year, hosting roughly 500 folks, over two days.
TO JOIN THE CHORALE: Please join Dana Stromberger, Holiday concert chorale Director, for an introductory session Monday, September 15th at 6:30 at the MV United Methodist Church, to chat, distribute music packets, and do a rough sing-through of the pieces to give you an idea of the program. We highly recommend coming to this if you can. Weekly Chorale Rehearsals begin Monday, September 22 from 6:30-8:30 PM at the MV Methodist church.
TO JOIN THE ORCHESTRA: Terry Hunt, Orchestra Director for the 25-26 Holiday Concert will host the orchestra's first weekly session on Thursday, September 25 6:30 - 8:30 in Room #3 of the Methow Valley Community Center and meets weekly thereafter until the performance. Terry says, "We welcome novice, practiced, and semi-professional players alike to this educational and community-based experience... if you’re not sure, just come, check it out, and see how you feel!"

Students under 18 are especially invited and can receive community service hours for participation in our concerts. If you have questions about the chorale, please email Dana Stromberger at twispie317@gmail.com ; For orchestra questions, please contact Terry Hunt at mountainsound@centurytel.net. For general info about Cascadia Music, or the Holiday Concert event, email Cascadia Music Executive Director, Katya Chorover at cascadiamv@gmail.com.

If you're able, please help community member Tylar Moe get through a medical crisis. Tylar is both a skilled carpenter and a talented singer songwriter. He's a single parent of four, and not able to work for several months. A GoFundMe site has been set up to help him out: click here

After a thorough search and selection process, one that included a demonstration music lesson, Angela Cross has been selected to serve as Methow Valley Elementary’s music teacher. Angela Cross graduated with a degree in Music Performance and grew up studying jazz and classical music in Los Angeles, CA. Backpacking around the world after college led her to the Okanogan, where she has spent the past eight years teaching elementary music in Oroville, WA. She also holds a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and is passionate about designing brain-development-focused, playful music experiences for her youngest learners.
One 3rd grader who got to participate in Angela’s demonstration music lesson commented, “I want her to be my music teacher every day!” Former colleagues have described her as “amazing…at getting kids to make music together”. Angela lives with her young son and two old dogs. Outside the classroom, she runs sound for local music events, performs regularly (Make Up Sax) throughout Washington State, and produces original recorded music. Angela replaces Dr. Mark Johnson, who retired in June.
